In 1994, Slade married his high school sweetheart, Sally Salter. Sally grew up on a farm in rural Shelby County and graduated with 28 students from Shelby Academy, a small Christian school. She received her undergrad degree from the University of Alabama and went on to UAB Medical School in Birmingham, AL, and is a physician at Shelby Baptist Medical Center and St. Vincent’s Hospital.
